Lactoprot Leezen – modernisation of the ECSWIN SCADA-System

The German Lactoprot GmbH are further expanding their Leezen production site. In the next few years, the production facilities are to be further modernised to secure their long-term competitive edge.

autec GmbH was entrusted with the modification of the entire scada system to the latest version of ECSWIN based on WinCC 7.0 in various production areas.

Based on the years of experience autec GmbH have gained through numerous modernisation projects it was possible to keep downtimes to a minimum during conversion in accordance with the customer's requirements.

This improvement of the scada system's performance, achieved e.g. by setting up multi-monitor clients with 24-inch monitors or the extended user management, provides the company with the means to accomplish the required increase in efficiency. The modernised scada system will enable new product requirements to be easily and efficiently satisfied in future.

Mecklenburg Brewery Luebz - modernisation of fermentation cellar

The Danish brewery group Carlsberg are investing in their subsidiaries in Germany. It is planned to modernise and upgrade the Mecklenburg Brewery Luebz and the Holsten Brewery Hamburg in the coming five years to maintain the competitive strength of the sites.

In this context, autec GmbH has just completed an order which involved the conversion of the entire scada system to the latest version of ECSWIN as well as upgrading WinCC 6 to version 7. In addition to the scada system, the control system was also migrated from SIMATIC S5 to S7.

In the course of hardware modernisation, the two old, redundant WinCC servers were replaced and an additional highly available database server was set up for the RECO Recipe Control system for recipe management in the entire brewery.

The program structures for the individual control tasks were revised and optimised for the autec RECO Recipe Control system when configuring the new S7 program.

Thanks to the new fermentation cellar programs and the modern hardware in combination with the RECO system, the customer will enjoy the benefits of a consistent recipe management system, with version maintenance and documentation using Microsoft Excel, optimised production planning and a sufficient amount of free capacity for future modifications or expansion.

Secondary technology and protection equipment for upgrading the power grid capacity of the Fröndenberg municipal utility company

The increasing feed-in of renewable energies, resulting e.g. from the addition of new solar power systems, has a significant impact on the power grid and the network infrastructure of the municipal utility company in Fröndenberg. An expansion became necessary which requires the construction of new electric power substations.
In the course of the modernisation of the already existing control panels in the Schwitten substation, autec GmbH has been commissioned by GA Energieanlagenbau Nord GmbH to supply and fit more than forty switch cabinets with secondary technology. These cabinets include protective equipment such as directional overcurrent protection, non-directional overcurrent protection, transformer differential protection and power differential protection.

autec QM System – Revision audit acc. to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008

The year had gone by - this meant that our quality management system had to be put under scrutiny again. That we were successfully recertified was no surprise for us, because this proves that autec staff actively support our QM system.

We all benefit from it – and this is to remain so in future.

Hofbrauhaus Wolters - modernisation of fermentation cellar automation

autec GmbH was commissioned to carry out the migration of the control system from SIMATIC S5 to S7 and the conversion of the scada system to the latest ECSWIN version, based on WinCC 7.0 of Siemens. Two new ultra-modern fermentation and storage tanks were also to be integrated into the new system.
While setting up the programs for the new S7, the integration of the autec RECO Recipe Control system was optimised and the program structures for the individual control tasks were revised. RECO means that all parameters required for the step sequences are maintained in a single database and can be documented and analysed using MS Excel.
On the first day of commissioning, the old failure-prone control system based on SIMATIC S5 was switched off and replaced by a new, modern S7. No later than on the second day, tank cooling was already controlled by the new S7 control system. After a week, the entire wort cooling area was running on the new ECSWIN scada system.
According to the brewery master of Hofbrauhaus Wolters, the two weeks of commissioning only caused a loss of time of no more than four hours compared with normal operation running on the old S5.

The conversion of the fermentation cellar programs and the new technical equipment resulted in a marked increase in the fermentation and storage capacities and have boosted efficiency of the production process. The environment also benefits as the optimised energy utilisation resulting from the modern cleaning equipment helps to save water.

Replacement of the supervisory control system and conversion of the control system from Siemens S5 to S7 at the Dr. Oetker fresh product facility in Moers

The mixing tank area was integrated into the ECSWIN supervisory control system, supplied and installed by autec at a previous stage for other areas of the plant. At the same time, the Siemens S5-155U was replaced by a S7-417 system.

As the functional requirement specifications were worked out in close cooperation with the customer it was possible to incorporate suggestions for improvement in the process. The RECO recipe system was further optimised to satisfy the high demands with respect to parallel processing of mixing programs and setpoint calculations and corrections in a mixing matrix. The integration of weigher control systems, raw material tanks and the integration with other control areas and the in-house quality system rounded off the project.

A special challenge we faced was the requirement to carry out conversion without adversely affecting ongoing production. Therefore, after completion of project planning and testing, well prepared tests were carried out at several weekends. On Sundays, switch-over to the new plant was initiated in the morning, the relevant tests were carried out and in the evening the connection to the old control system was re-established. After thoroughly testing all areas, it was possible to switch over the plant to the new control system successfully and without problems despite ongoing production. Production is now running at full speed, the acceptance test was completed successfully.

Allen-Bradley Control System for Brazil

For the US market we have equipped the control system for a yeast propagation plant with a Rockwell control system type Allen-Bradley CompactLogix by order of ESAU & HUEBER.

So far, our standard modules, which have been established as a result of our long years of experience, had only be implemented in Siemens S5 and S7 control systems. For this project autec has now created the corresponding software packages, which now constitute a sound basis for future projects.
